Monrovia School Link ~ Number 182 ~ December 10, 2006
Here are a few items that will be on the agenda for the December 13 board meeting this Wednesday. There'll be some pats on the back and a report on the superintendent, and others on enrollment and the budget. By the way, Board Member Ed Gililland wrote to say that only two students were expelled from Santa Fe Middle School, not four as indicated in the last issue. There were four expelled, but the other two were high school students. My apologies.

This Wednesday the school board will hold a study session at 5 p.m. in the board room to get a preview of the "Vision Policy," discuss "Measures for Graduates Prepared for Life" and some other stuff.
At the regular 7 p.m. meeting the board will:
- honor the 2006 recipients of the California School Boards Association Golden Bell Award recipients: Monrovia Unified School District Nutrition Network - Healthy Hearts, Healthy Minds and Healthy Bodies, and the community collaborative, Monrovia Reads.
- honor Monrovia High teacher Elouise Tye as a 2006 recipient of the Umwalimu Award from the Monrovia-Duarte Black Alumni Association for her years of dedicated service to the youth of Monrovia.
- report on the superintendent's evaluation.
- hear a report on funding sources for Monrovia High School.
- hear about enrollment and school site capacity.
- hear an "Ending Balance Analysis" for 2003-04, 2004-05, and 2005-06.
- open and announce bids received by 3 p.m., Dec. 13, 2006, for the lease of surplus district real property, and then have oral bidding for bids not received by the 3 p.m. deadline and for bidders wishing to increase their bid amount. [And I wouldn't be surprised if this item was tied in to the next one.]
- adopt a resolution approving the lease of surplus space at Monrovia High for wireless telecommunications services and facilities.
