XXVII. Submission to Secular Authority.

Matthew 22:19 - Show me the money used for the tax. And they brought to him a denarius.

Matthew 22:20 - And he said to them, Whose image and inscription is this?

Matthew 22:21 - They said to him, Caesar's. Then he said to them, Then render to Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's.

Mark 12:15 - Shall we pay, or shall we not pay? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, Why are you testing me? bring me a denarius, that I may see it.

Mark 12:16 - And they brought it. And he said to them, Whose is this image and inscription? And they said to him, Caesar's.

Mark 12:17 - And Jesus answered, saying to them, Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

Luke 20:24 - Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it? They answered, Caesar's.

Luke 20:25 - And he said to them, Then render to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.

Matthew 17:25 - He said, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, What do you think, Simon? from whom do the kings of the earth take customs or tribute? from their own sons, or from strangers?

Matthew 17:26 - Peter said to him, From strangers. Jesus said to him, Then the sons are free.

Matthew 17:27 - But lest we offend them, go to the sea, and cast in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you have opened its mouth, you shall find a shekel: take that, and give it to them for me and you.
