XIII. Self-Renunciation
Matthew 16:24 - Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mark 8:34 - And when he had called the people to him, with his disciples also, he said to them, Whoever would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Luke 9:23 - And he said to them all, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Matthew 16:25 - For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it: and whoever loses his life for my sake shall find it.
Mark 8:35 - For whoever would save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, shall save it.
Luke 9:24 - For whoever will save his life shall lose it: but whoever will lose his life for my sake, he shall save it.
Matthew 16:26 - For what does it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mark 8:36 - For what does it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Mark 8:37 - Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Luke 9:25 - For what advantage is there for a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself?
Matthew 10:37 - He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
Matthew 10:38 - And he who does not take up his cross, and follow after me, is not worthy of me.
Luke 14:26 - If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, yea, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:27 - And whoever does not carry his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:33 - So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has, cannot be my disciple.
Matthew 10:39 - He who finds his life shall lose it: and he who loses his life for my sake shall find it.
Luke 17:33 - Whoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
John 12:25 - He who loves his life shall lose it; and he who hates his life in this world shall keep it for life eternal.
Luke 14:28 - For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has sufficient money to finish it?
Luke 14:29 - Lest perhaps, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all who behold it will begin to mock him,
Luke 14:30 - Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
Luke 14:31 - Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first, and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
Luke 14:32 - Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation, and asks terms of peace.
