XV. Purity of Speech
Matthew 12:36 - But I say to you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account of on the day of judgment.
Matthew 12:37 - For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.
Matthew 5:33 - Again, you have heard that it has been said to them of old, You shall not swear falsely, but shall fulfill your oaths to the Lord:
Matthew 5:34 - But I say to you, Do not swear at all; either by heaven; for it is God's throne:
Matthew 5:35 - Or by the earth; for it is his footstool: or by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
Matthew 5:36 - Nor shall you swear by your head, because you can not make one hair white or black.
Matthew 5:37 - But let your statements be, Yes for yes; No for no: for whatever is more than these comes from the evil one.
Matthew 23:20 - Therefore, whoever shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all things on it.
Matthew 23:21 - And whoever shall swear by the temple, swears by it, and by him who dwells in it.
Matthew 23:22 - And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.
