The Great Discourse
II. Prayer
Matthew 6:5 - And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward.

Luke 18:12 - I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
Luke 18:13 - And the tax gatherer, standing far off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but beat upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me, a sinner.
Luke 18:14 - I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one who exalts himself shall be abased; and he who humbles himself shall be exalted.

Matthew 6:7 - But when you pray, do not use meaningless repetition, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their many words.
Matthew 6:8 - Therefore, do not be like them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him.
Matthew 7:7 - Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you:
