Santa Fe: County and city in same county, in New Mexico; and city in Haskell County, Kansas, and town in Monroe County, Missouri. A Spanish phrase meaning "holy faith." The name originally given by Antonio de Espejo, in 1582, was La Ciudad de la Santa Fe de, San Francisco, "the City of the Holy-Faith of St. Francis."
