Pike's Peak: One of the highest summits of the Rocky Mountains, situated in Colorado, seventy miles south by west of Denver. It was discovered and ascended in 1506, by Lieutenant (afterwards General) Zebulon Montgomery Pike, a surveying officer of the United States, for whom it was named.
