Edinburgh: Formerly Edwinesburg, means ostensibly the fortress of Eadwine, the Northumbrian king, who was converted by Paulinus. He extended the Anglican dominion as far as the Forth, and may probably have erected a frontier fortress on the commanding rock on which Edinburgh Castle stands,
