Cris Kingle: Also variously spelled Kriss Kingle, and Kriss Kringle, has been corrupted from the German word, Christ-Kindel, meaning the "little Christ-child." Later uses, especially among German peoples, have identified the name with that of Santa Claus and Saint Nicholas.
