Iole. The daughter of Eurytus of Oechalia, beloved by Hercules, who tried to gain her in marriage for himself. Eurytus promised his daughter to the man who should conquer him and his sons in shooting with the bow. Hercules defeated them; but Eurytus and his sons, with the exception of Iphitus, refused to give Iole to him, because he had murdered his own children.
