Ceres. The daughter of Saturn, sister of Jupiter and Neptune. She was the goddess of corn, flowers, and harvest. She is represented as riding in a chariot drawn by dragons and crowned with poppies. She was the mother of Proserpine, who was seized by Pluto while she was gathering flowers. Ceres was the Roman name for mother-earth.
