Cecrops. In mythology is represented with upper part of his body human, the lower part that of a dragon. Cecrops is said to have founded Athens, and to have divided Attica into twelve communities, and to have introduced the first elements of civilized life; he instituted marriage, abolished bloody sacrifices, and taught his subjects how to worship the gods.
