Castor and Pollux. Brothers, sons of Leda. Mercury carried them to Pallena, where they were educated. As soon as they arrived at manhood they embarked with Jason in quest of the Golden Fleece. Pollux was the son of Jupiter, and Castor of Tyndarus. Hence Pollux was immortal, while Castor was subject to old age and death, like other men.
