Aurora. The goddess of the morning, or of the dawn. She is sometimes described as the goddess of day. She is represented as standing in a magnificent chariot, which is sometimes drawn by winged steeds. A brilliant star sparkles upon her forehead; while with one hand she grasps the reins, she holds in the other a lighted torch.
