Zoaea

Zoaea, a stage passed through during the development of many species of the higher Crustacea; it has a massive head, with large paired eyes, a median spine, and some pairs of appendages; behind this is a jointed abdomen without any appendages. It is so different from the adult that it was regarded as a distinct animal.
