Valuation, the act of determining the price of any kind of property or the rent of land. This is necessary when persons become liable to probate and the succession duty and similar taxes, and when a political appointment or privilege is dependent on a property qualification. In most cases, also, trustees are required to seek professional advice before advancing money on the security of land.
