Theodoricthe Great

Theodoric the Great, King of the East Goths, was born in 455 at Vienna, and became a dreaded power to the Byzantine Emperors, who had failed to pay a tribute to the East Goths. He gained many important victories, and became the most powerful of all the early Teutonic rulers. He favoured art and learning, and reigned wisely on the whole, dying in 526.
