Thaliacea

Thaliacea, one of the three orders of Ascidians (q.v.), including those with barrel-shaped bodies and thin delicate tests or mantles. They are all free-swimming. The most interesting point about the order is that in both families (Doliolidae and Salpidae) there is an alternation of generations.
