Sodom

Sodom, the chief of the Cities of the Plain was according to the Hebrew Scriptures, destroyed, along with Gomorrha, Zeboim, and Admah, by fire from heaven as a punishment for its vices, Lot and his family alone escaping. The site is supposed to be marked by the Dead Sea, called by the Arabs "the Sea of Lot."
