Slickenside

Slickenside, a mining term originally applied to a smooth lustrous surface of specular galena (q.v.) in veins in the Carboniferous Limestone of Derbyshire; but now used for any rock-surface that is smoothed by friction against another, as is often the case in a fault (qy.).
