Serpula

Serpula, a genus of marine worms belonging to the class Chaetopoda (q.v.), the sub-class Polychaeta (q.v.), and the order Tubicola. It lives in a strong calcareous tube attached to shells, rocks, etc. This may be straight, sinuous, or tortuous. There are eight living British species.
