Semler

Semler, JOHANN SALOMO (1725-94), German theologian, was educated at Halle Unlversity, and eventually became its professor of theology in 1751, which post he retained till his death. He was also director of the theological seminary at Halle. His writings are chiefly interpretations of the Old and New Testaments, and, though slightly rationalistic, are considered of much importance.
