Secretion
Secretion, the process of separation from the blood, by certain organs of the body, of materials which serve some further purpose in the performance of the functions of the animal economy, or are discharged from the body as being of no more use to it. The latter kind of material is sometimes spoken of as excretion, as distinguished from a true secretion which has some further part to play In connection with the body in which it is elaborated, (For Secreting glands, see GLANDS.)
