Search Warrant

Search Warrant, an authority granted upon information or complaint made in writing and upon oath, empowering the person to whom it is addressed to search a house or other place therein specified, against anyone suspected of treason, felony, or any indictable misdemeanour, or to search for stolen goods. When the warrant is received by the officer, he is bound to execute it in any place to which the jurisdiction of the magistrate and himself extends, and he may break open doors in order to execute it.
