Seakale

Seakale (Crambe maritima), a British seaside perennial plant belonging to the order Cruciferae, with broad wavy glaucous leaves, and white, honey-scented flowers. Though used in ancient times and by inhabitants of the coast, it was only introduced into our kitchen gardens about a century ago. It is earthed up, and the blanched stems and leafstalks are eaten boiled.
