Schooner

Schooner, a small but swift vessel, of sharp build, which commonly has two masts, but sometimes three, and, even four or five. A fore-and~aft schooner has fore- and aft-sails only, whereas a topsail schooner carries a square topsail and topgal1ant. sail. The latter rig is now seldom seen but in trading-vessels.
