Scarlet Runner

Scarlet-Runner (Phaseolus multiflorus), a native of Mexico, is a c1imbing bean now much cultivated in England, with a thick tuber, annual twining branches, and scarlet or white flowers on many flowered peduncles, which are succeeded by rough pods. These are eaten when green. The ripe seeds are purple with black dots.
