Saxhorn
Saxhorn, a brass wind-instnunent, invented by a Mr. Sax at Paris about the year 1840. The instrument has a bell mouth turned upward and a cupped mouth-piece, and is fitted with valves for modifying the tones. The saxhorn exists in several voices, the tenor being that most in use. Though very little used for orchestral music, the saxhorn is generally employed in military bands.
