Savannah Blackbird

Savannah Blackbird (Crotophagus ani), a bird allied to the Cuckoo, from Southern and Central America. The total length is about 14 inches, plumage bluish-black, glossed with violet. This bird, like other species of the genus, feed on insects parasitic on cattle. They are said to nest in common, and to rear their young together.
