Sankara

Sankara, a Brahminical saint aud teacher who flourished somewhere between 800 and 200 B.C., and was probably a native of Western India and a member of the Namburi caste. He led a roving life, visiting Kashmir, it is said, and dying very early at Kedarnath in the Himalayas. Many commentaries on the Sutras, Bhagavad-gita and Upanishads are ascribed to him.
