Richardof Cirencester
Richard of Cirencester, an early English chronicler, who was a monk at Westminster. He was famous for a long time as the supposed author of a treatise on Roman Britain entitled De Situ Britannia; which was considered of enormous value, till it was proved to be a modern imposture, palmed off on Dr. Stukely in 1757, by a Copenhagen professor. Richard became a monk in 1350, and died about 1401. Very little is known of him or his writings.
