Rhynchonella

Rhynchonella is one of the best-known of the still surviving genera of the Brachiopoda or Lamp-shells. It is the type of the Rhynchonellidcc, and dates from the Palaeozoic period onward. It is especially characteristic of the Oolitic and Cretaceous rocks.
