Rhode Island
Rhode Island, from which one of the United States takes its name, is in Narragansett Bay, lat, 41° 25' N., long. 71° 20' W. It is 15 miles long by 3-1/2 broad, and contains the townships of Newport, Portsmouth, and Middletown. The land is fertile, and the climate wholesome and pleasant, and many invalids from the south resort hither. Many sheep, cattle, and horses are reared.
