Reed IKEace
Reed-IKEace, or Cat's-Tail, the popular name of the two British species of the genus Typha, often erroneously called bulrushes. They are aquatic monocotyledons, with very long distichous linear leaves and a cylindrical tapering spadix, the lower part of which is a, brown velvety mass of female flowers and the upper deciduous portion a slender, tapering spike of males ones. The perianth is represented only by tufts of hair, and the fruit is an achene with one pendulous albuminous seed.
