Reaumur Thermometer

Reaumur Thermometer differs from the Centigrade in having 80° as the boiling-point of water instead of 100°, the zero in both cases being the temperature of melting ice. Hence 80 degrees on a Reaumur thermometer correspond to 100 degrees on a Centigrade, and 1 Reaumur degree is equivalent to 1} Centigrade degrees. This thermometer is named after the celebrated French physicist Reaumur (q.v.), and has been most generally used in Germany.
