Raynouard
Raynouard, Francois (1761-1836), philologist, was born in Provence, and during the Revolution was imprisoned, only obtaining release after the death of Robespierre. His first notable literary success was a tragedy (1804), but he afterwards devoted his attention to early French literature, and published valuable works on the troubadours.
