Posilipoor Pausilipo

Posilipo or Pausilipo, a mountain which projects into the sea on the W. of Naples opposite the island of Nisida. It is pierced by the tunnel called the "Grotto of Posilipo," which is 2,316 feet long, 22 feet broad, and 89 feet high, and affords passage to the road between Naples and Pozzuoli. Near the entrance is the so-called tomb of Virgil.
