Pollio
Pollio, Caius Asinius, Roman orator (b. 76. B.C., d. 4 A.D.), was known as an orator before Csesar's war with Pompey. He espoused Cffisar's cause and, after the latter's death, sided with Antony, who named him consul (40 B.C.). He reconciled Augustus and Antony, was known to Horace and Virgil, who dedicated poems to him, and retired from public life after his victory over the Dalmatians. He founded a public library in Rome.
