Pelops
Pelops, a hero of Greek mythology, the son of Tantalus and grandson of Zeus. The myth relates that Tantalus slew his son, and served him up at a banquet to the gods; but the only part eaten was part of a shoulder which Demeter took in absence of mind. The gods then restored Pelops to life by placing the limbs in a boiling caldron, the place of, the lost shoulder being supplied by one of ivory. Pel's Fish Owl. [Fish-owl.]
