Paphos

Paphos, the name of two cities in the southwest of Cyprus. At Old Paphos (Kyklia) was a celebrated temple of Aphrodite, whom Homer makes to land here after she sprang from the foam. At New Paphos (Baffa) St. Paul preached and struck blind Elymas the sorcerer. 'The latter is on the coast, the former two miles inland.
