Ohnet

Ohnet, Georges, was born in Paris in 1848, and received a good education. He was called to the French bar, but, after some years'practice as an advocate, took to journalism, which he presently abandoned for fiction. In 1881 he published Serge Ponine, the first of a series of novels comprehended under the title of Les Batailles de la Vie. The next year appeared Le Maitre de Forges, followed by La Comtesse Sarah, Lise Fleuron, La Grande Marnii're, Les Dames de la Croix-Morte, and Volonte.
