Nievre

Nievre, a department of France bounded north by Yonne, east by Saone-et-Loire and Cote-d'Or, south by Allier, and west by Cher, its capital being Nevers (q.v.). A great part of its surface is occupied by wood and mountain. Its principal products are iron, coal, and other minerals.
