Newark
Newark, a town of New Jersey, U.S.A., on the Passaic river, was settled from Connecticut in 1666. It is a fine place, with many handsome buildings, and is important commercially, being connected with New York'both by railway and river steamers. Besides its docks, Newark has brass- and ironworks, boot- and shoe-manufactories, as well as establishments for the production of clothing of all sorts, carriages, trunks, and various kinds of machinery.
