Morghen
Morghen, Raffaelle Sanzio (1758-1833), the great engraver, was born at Naples. In 1781 he engraved Raffaelle's Poetry and Theology, and afterwards The Transfiguration of the same master, and Leonardo's Last Supper, Andrea del Sarto's Madonna del Sacro, and other famous pictures. He died at Florence, where he had established a school of engraving and had been provided with a pension and free quarters from the Grand Duke. He married a daughter of Volpato. his master at Rome. Morghen's Life was written by his pupil, Palmarino; in the book is a catalogue of his works.
