Moqui
Moqui (Moki, Tusayan), one of the chief branches of the Pueblo Indians [Pueblo], who founded six pueblos (village settlements) east of the Colorado Chiquito, in East Arizona and New Mexico. With this group is connected a seventh pueblo inhabited by people of Tanoan stock; but the Moqui themselves are members of the great Shoshonean (Snake) family. Tn 1890 they numbered collectively 1,996, all still occupying their original pue bios.
