Margate
Margate, an English yvatering-place, in the Isle of Tlianet district, on the North Foreland, 66 miles east of London. It has two fine churches, a deaf-and-dumb asylum, and a sea-bathing infirmary, and is much resorted to by Londoners. The pier is 300 yards long, and there is a jetty of still greater length. Margate is a corporate town.
