Lucilius

Lucilius (circa 148-103 B.C.), the first Roman satirist, was born at Suessa Aurunca, in Campania. He was the intimate friend of Scipio Africanus, whom he accompanied to the siege of Numantia, and of Laelius. Fragments of his Satires remain.
