Liverof Sulphur
Liver of Sulphur, a mixture of sulpho-compounds of potassium, chiefly sulphides, formed by heating together potassium carbonate and sulphur in a closed crucible. The resulting mass is of a liver colour, and was known to the alchemists and used by them as a medicinal- preparation. It is still employed as such, being known in the Pharmacopoeia as potassa sulphurata.
