Linacre
Linacre, or Ltnacer, Thomas (1460-1524), an eminent physician and priest, was born and received his early education in Canterbury. In 1484 he went to Oxford and, having obtained a fellowship, went to Italy and studied at Bologna, Florence, Padua, Rome. On his return he educated Prince Arthur, Henry VII.'s eldest son. He was first president of the College of Physicians, which he helped to found; nevertheless, be gave up practising, and held several important positions in the Church.
