Ligament
Ligament, a band of connective tissue which serves to unite and bind together certain animal structures. Ligaments are typically developed in joints, and the tendons which serve to connect muscles with bones are modified ligaments. Ligaments are usually composed of white fibrous connective tissue, but in some cases - as, for example, in the ligamentum nuchas, which attains to huge proportions in the neck of the ox, horse, etc. - yellow elastic tissue forms the basis of the structure.
